Now, Pfizer has paid $1.9 billion to settle claims that Premarin is an over-the-counter drug and that it is potentially fatal to the fetus. They are the first in a series of lawsuits that are being filed against the company for alleged harm to the fetus.
In a statement, Pfizer said, "The settlement resolves litigation and allows us to continue to support Pfizer's commitment to protecting our patients and the health and safety of our staff."
